Case Overview

This case centers around a ten-year-old Arkansas boy, A.C. whose mother and stepfather want to terminate his neglectful birth father’s rights and finalize stepparent adoption. Because A.C. is considered an “Indian child” under the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA), a federal law that singles out cases of Indian children for different, substandard treatment that fails to protect their rights as Americans, this otherwise simple process is complicated.

Also representing A.C., his mother Erin Fisher, and his stepfather Richard Fisher, are attorneys from our American Freedom Network (AFN) based in Arkansas, Keith Morrison of Wilson & Associates, and Chad Pekron of Quattlebaum, Grooms & Tull, PLLC.
