Phoenix—The Goldwater Institute has been selected by the Arizona Capitol Times as the “Leader of the Year” in policy development. The Institute was among multiple nominees in the policy development category, and was selected for the honor by the Arizona Capitol Times management.

“The Goldwater Institute works hard to conduct research and develop solutions to strengthen the economy, bring transparency to government, and to protect the constitutional rights of all Arizonans,” said Darcy Olsen, president and CEO of the Goldwater Institute. “To be recognized for developing policy that positively impacts the state is a great honor for our staff and supporters.”

The Goldwater Institute, and 14 additional Leaders of the Year in other categories, will be honored at a September 29, 2009 luncheon at the Wyndham Hotel in downtown Phoenix. Tickets are available by calling the Arizona Capitol Times, (602) 889-7129.

The Goldwater Institute is an independent government watchdog supported by people who are committed to expanding free enterprise and liberty. The Institute develops innovative, principled solutions to pressing issues facing the states and enforces constitutionally limited government through litigation. The Institute focuses its work on expanding economic freedom and educational opportunity, bringing transparency to government, and protecting the rights guaranteed to Americans by the U.S. and state constitutions. The Goldwater Institute was founded in 1988 with Barry Goldwater’s blessing.
