At the time of this writing, only a few hours have passed since the U.S. Supreme Court issued its calamitous decision upholding the bulk of the federal health care law. I share in your disappointment, surprise and frustration.
'Fight for Liberty Requires Eternal Vigilance'
As much as today's decision may feel like the end of the road, I assure you that the battle rages on.
Multiple legal challenges to significant aspects of the law including the Independent Payment Advisory Board are ongoing, and we are grateful to our supporters nationwide for making this possible. And polls consistently find that more than half of American voters favor repealing the law. On Election Day, we have the opportunity to elect new representatives who will restore constitutional limits on government.
At its core, the battle for health care freedom represents a timeless political question: How much power should the federal government have over our lives? This question will not be answered by a single Supreme Court decision. Those of us who believe in freedom remember Thomas Jefferson's prescient admonition that the fight for liberty requires eternal vigilance.
We lost a battle today, but the fight for freedom endures. We look forward to working with you in the months ahead to reverse this destructive path and continue restoring and protecting the freedoms we cherish.
